Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India has established ‘MHRD’s Innovation Cell (MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes while they are in formative years.
MIC has envisioned encouraging creation of ‘Institution’s Innovation Council (IICs) across selected HEIs. A network of IICs are established to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the Institution through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion ecosystem in the campuses. A network of more than 950 IICs were established on 21st November 2018.
VNEC Shorapur has a focused Placement Cell. We strongly believe that Students and recruiting organizations are two of our most important customers. The Placement Cell of the Institute is responsible for arranging training of the undergraduate and postgraduate students in order to make them comfortable in the recruitment process of various organizations and to provide world class job opportunities in a range of private and public sector organizations. The Placement Cell also arranges pre-placement orientation to the students prior to formal campus interviews from senior executives of major industries. VNEC conducts extensive on-campus recruitment programs, workshops, seminars and individual career and job search assistance. VNEC has a close interaction with organizations such as TCS, Wipro, Marine etc. for research, academic and Training & Placement activities. Campus interviews for graduate /postgraduate students normally commence in VII semester for B.E graduates, III semester for MBA and M.Tech.
Training:- The Institute takes care to train students for the campus recruitment. A structured Training programme for both IT and Non-IT branches students is put in place. VNEC regularly conducts training on topics such as Quantitative ability, Technical ability, Verbal ability, Logical ability, Group discussion, personal interview and communication skills with the assistance of best trainers. VNEC encourages interdisciplinary approach and thus exposes Non IT branch students to software languages like C, C++ etc. VNEC organizes Industrial tours to give students a feel of actual work culture

Admission to B.E, Passed in Second PUC/12th standard/Equivalent examination with English as one of the Languages and obtained minimum of 45% of marks in aggregate in Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry/ BioTechnology/biology/Electronics/Computer. 40% for for SC, ST, Category- 1,2A,2B,3A, and 3B ccategory candidates. Foreign/NRI students are also admitted to the B.E. courses. They must hold a valid student VISA.
Admission to B.E Lateral Entry, Passed in any diploma examination or equivalent examinations and B.Sc degree holders from a recognized university as defined by UGC with minimum of 45% of marks in aggregate in Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry/ BioTechnology/biology/Electronics/Computer. 40% for for SC, ST, Category- 1,2A,2B,3A, and 3B ccategory candidates. Foreign/NRI students are also admitted to the B.E. courses. They must hold a valid student VISA.
Admission to M.Tech, course shall be open to candidates who have passed the prescribed qualifying (BE/B.Tech) examination with not less than 50% of the marks in aggregate of all the semesters / years of the degree examination with PGCET Score.In case of candidates from Karnataka belonging to SC/ST/Cat -1, marks shall not be less than 45%.
Admission to MBA, course shall be open for the candidates who have passed the Bachelor degree with not less than fifty percent i.e. integer 50% (rounding - off aggregate percent is not permitted) of the marks in the aggregate of all the years of the degree examinations. In the case candidates from Karnataka belonging to SC/ST/Cat-1 and OBC, the aggregate percent of marks of all the years of the qualifying examination shall not be less than forty five percent i.e. integer 45% (rounding -off aggregate percent is not permitted). The admission is open to candidates qualified in PGCET/CAT/MAT/KMAT.
The application and prospectus can be obtained from the college office on payment of cash of Rs. 1000/- or by sending a D.D. for the said amount in favour of "The Principal, VNEC, Shorapur".

The library has a rich collection of around 23584 volumes of text books, reference books, national and international journals in all branches of Engineering, Science, Technology, Management and General Studies, and the collection is ever increasing.

The College has modern hostel facilities in the campus for both boys and girls with in-house mess facility providing hygienic and nutritious diet. Safety and comfort of the students is the primary focus and in-house wardens monitor the welfare of the students. The hostels have solar systems and electrical geyser s for providing hot water apart from the modern amenities like recreation facilities, library facility etc. At present the college has one boy's hostel blocks with a total of 250 capacities and one girl's hostel with a capacity of 150.
